Personal Experiences

Volunteering and taking part in events help me find out who I am and how far I can go with the talents I have. It has also helped to realised talents I have. Volunteering keeps me happy and satisfied which I feel is a very important emotion and feeling to have in life.

Club2Care had opened up training sessions for Mental Health and had offered 15 slots to TRC Youth Wing. I thought that knowing and learning about Mental Health will not only help me but I will also be able to help others by observing the symptoms. I am thankful for the session for now that I know what to do and what not to do when I realise a person might be suffering from a particular mental health issue. I have also received a Certificate of Completion upon finishing the session.

During the Circuit Breaker period due to COVID, we were unable to have events at venues. Therefore, we had to think of ideas to still be active on our Instagram page, @trcyouthwing. One of the ideas was making informative posts related to Tamil Grammar. My module, Communication in Tamil helped me to create these posts. I was also very happy about sharing the knowledge I gained with the Tamil community.

TRC had held a Bursary Award Ceremony for primary school students at Umar Pulavar Tamil Language Centre. I was in charge of holding the primary 6 students in a classroom and take their attendance when they arrive in. When the time was nearing for them to collect their award, I guided them to the back of the stage. I was also accountable of distributing the cheques to the parents after the ceremony.

It was such a new and yet a great experience for me.

Tamizha

My first journey with Tamizha was being part of a Tamil production show Athiyaayam in 2019. Although I was a supporting role, I had 2 different characters which required me to switch from one character to the other in terms, of the way I talk, walk and carry myself. I realised that it is not easy to do different roles. However, it gave me great knowledge which made me interest other aspects in a production show such as, directing, lighting, script writing and etc. Below are the scenes I acted. Enjoy!

This video is a short film that was taken in tamil when I attended a workshop called Thiraiyarai. We were given less than 1 and a half hours to plan the short film, video it and edit it. This video was done in collaboration with other university students.

I volunteered to be a part of ST200 Book Launch that took place on 31st December 2019. I was part of the backstage helper to keep things in control since a lot of movement was happening at the back stage.

I was selected to be a part of the video in wishing A Happy Tamil New Year to all the Indians. This video was posted on the Instagram page.

Lisha Toastmasters

I was not in Toastmasters for long but I felt satisfied preparing for speeches and speaking in front of people after a long time. Due to school commitments I was unable to continue with Toastmasters but I can't wait to get back soon!
