The mind is everything.

What you think you become.

Year 3

For the module Communication in Tamil 3, I had to write 4 different poems for preschoolers. I write poems but have never written for children. This assignment gave me a different perspective of poems. choosing a theme and writing poems based on that was challenging especially to also come up with different structure for each poem. However, I did a good job on writing the poems and reciting them during presentation.

Year 2

For the module The Child and the Creative Curriculum, I created an interactive flashcard for Indian Arts and music instruments. This was an interesting way to think out of the box to make a flashcard interactive. By using the knowledge that was taught us in the module, I created the flashcards which included filling in the blanks and matching the instruments to the correct flashcard.

My group and I had the chance to prepare an activity for students and implement it during a SINDA event. We introduced cloth printing but in a modified version. The students were given cloths, vegetables cut in different shapes and; blue, red and yellow washable paint. They were to create AB patterning using the designs and colours given. We also had the opportunity to tell the students about the ancient Indian printing.

The module Introduction to Children's Literature allowed us to create a storybook in Tamil from scratch. It had to be interactive to engage the children. An implementation also was done to make sure our storybook was suitable for preschoolers aged5-6 years old. This assignment gave me a good experience in terms of what kind of senses can be used to create a book, what materials can be used considering individual appropriateness, cultural appropriateness and age appropriateness. This assignment allowed to make use of the knowledge that we learnt in various modules such as, Introduction to Tamil Language, Introduction to Tamil Literature, The Child and the Creative Curriculum, Environment and Social Awareness, Children's Health & Socio-Emotional Well-Being and Communication in Tamil.

In Early Mathematics module, we had to create a resource kit for preschoolers using a storybook, following its characters and concept. However, the resource kit also had to have a fun element to keep the students engaged and excited. Therefore, we created a play mat which was inspired and later modified from snake and ladder. This has helped to make me a better learner and also understand a child's level of understanding.

Year 1

Integrated with Tamil History and Tamil Literature, I came up with a time lapse video. Initially I was not exposed to such ideas and from this assignment I realised that it is important to be creative, think out of the box and introduce new things for a better engaged learning.

Project done for Introduction to Tamil Language module. This project cater to pre-schoolers to teach them words through the objects which helps them to better understand and remember. This project helped me to understand things from a child's perspective in terms of spelling and pronunciation of words.

This drawing was done using an application for a module, Children's Health and Socio-Emotional Well-Being. In this assignment, I had to draw an area of a preschool classroom. This module helped me to understand the health and safety issues for children such as air ventilation, vibrant colours and safe corners of chairs and tables. Through this, I was able to visualise how safe a classroom needs to be for children.

For ITAPP module, we had to do a short film as a group creating a story. Having so many ideas was very challenging. However, we learnt a lot of things along the way such as delivering the dialogues and to make sure that it reaches the audience. We also added elements of comedy to make sure the audience are still engaged while watching. Through this assignment, I realised that acting is definitely my forte and with that I will be able to do creative lessons combining with other resources as a preschool teacher.
